Initiatives

Following the significant successes achieved by our federation, it has gained the attention of the global Taekwondo community. Among those interested in supporting and advancing Taekwondo in Jordan and the region is Kukkiwon, the world’s exclusive authority for black belt certification exams and the issuance of corresponding international certificates. Additionally, Kukkiwon oversees the World Taekwondo Academy, which serves as the primary training arm for Taekwondo instructors worldwide.
Kukkiwon expressed its desire to establish a regional branch office within our federation, aimed at offering the same services provided by its headquarters. These services include organizing annual activities such as black belt promotion exams, instructor training courses of various types, championships, and sports festivals.
With gratitude and pride, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between our federation and Kukkiwon, officially inaugurating their regional branch office within our federation. This office will operate in alignment with our federation’s annual activity plan, further enhancing the development of Taekwondo at both the local and regional levels.

The Jordan Taekwondo Federation has established a comprehensive sports environment tailored to meet the training needs of national team players, supporting their development to achieve global excellence. This vision was realized through the creation of a dedicated National Teams Training Center. The facility includes a training hall, a fitness center, a clinic, a physiotherapy room, a physiological laboratory equipped with a VO2 Max device, and hotel-style accommodation for up to 32 athletes, complete with meal services.

This center stands as the only facility in Jordan offering an integrated sports environment dedicated to a specific sport, serving as a familial home for national team athletes. It strengthens social bonds among players, fostering a sense of unity and encouraging them to elevate their technical performance and results through a shared team spirit, even in an individual sport like Taekwondo.

A distinguishing feature of the center is its unwavering commitment to sustainability and excellence in Taekwondo. The Jordan Taekwondo Federation exemplifies a steadfast dedication to sustainability in sports, meticulously creating an environment that holistically meets the needs of national teams. This commitment extends beyond training, reflecting the federation’s mission to empower athletes to reach world-class levels in their sport by enhancing their health and overall well-being. For us, Taekwondo is more than a sport—it is a way of life that we proudly embrace.
Key Performance Indicators:

To ensure the effectiveness of the center, the federation has established the following key performance indicators (KPIs):
1. Maintaining Optimal Weight and Physical Fitness: Ensuring 99% adherence to required weight categories and strong physical conditioning.
2. Health Monitoring: Achieving 100% compliance with vital health metrics through quarterly medical check-ups.
3. International Success: Increasing the number of medals won in international tournaments by 20% compared to the previous year.
4. Teamwork and Social Integration: Enhancing teamwork efficiency and promoting active participation in social and recreational activities among players, targeting 100% involvement.
5. Olympic Rankings: Improving Olympic rankings of athletes by 5% from their current standings.

Achievements:
The establishment of this center and the provision of an optimal sports environment have significantly contributed to the improvement of Olympic rankings for national team players. Today, Jordanian Taekwondo athletes are ranked among the top international competitors, a testament to the federation’s commitment to excellence and innovation.

Following the internal political unrest in the region, Jordan, driven by its humanitarian responsibility to the international community, has welcomed a significant number of refugees, reaching three million, most of whom are Syrian nationals. Recognizing the importance of supporting these refugees early on, our federation sought to provide them with the right and opportunity to practice Taekwondo, on par with Jordanian citizens. This initiative aligns with our commitment to Olympic values, which advocate for equal access to sports and the promotion of its principles and values.

In this spirit, our federation engaged with the World Taekwondo Federation to address the matter, culminating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Taekwondo Humanitarian Foundation, an international humanitarian organization affiliated with the World Taekwondo Federation. As a result, a Taekwondo training academy was established within the Al-Azraq Refugee Camp for Syrian refugees, under the direct supervision of our federation.

Our federation treats refugee players with the same standards and opportunities as Jordanian athletes, allowing them to participate in our developmental tournaments. Furthermore, we have exempted them from all fees associated with black belt promotion exams and covered the costs of issuing their international certificates through the World Taekwondo Federation. Additionally, the federation facilitates the travel and return of refugee players to and from the refugee camp and coordinates with relevant government authorities to issue the necessary permits, enabling them to participate in our activities and, for outstanding players, to train with our national teams.

As part of our ongoing support for refugees and our commitment to ensuring they receive the international attention they deserve, our federation organizes an annual international championship for refugees, titled the Hope & Dream Championship. This prestigious event attracts prominent figures in the global Taekwondo community. The most recent championship, held in February 2023, was a resounding success, extending its impact beyond Taekwondo circles. The event was attended by presidents of international sports federations from various disciplines, along with delegations from their respective organizations and representatives of the International Olympic Committee. This championship has evolved into a renowned sports festival, celebrated for its ability to convey critical messages that reinforce Olympic values.

Our federation has reaffirmed its unwavering support for refugee athletes by selecting them to present Taekwondo demonstrations at several significant international sports events. Most recently, the refugee Taekwondo demonstration team participated in the Korean Ambassador’s Cup Championship for Juniors, showcasing their skills and the positive impact of our ongoing efforts.
